Hondata Traction Control

Coming soon for your FlashPro....

"Hondata Traction Control works by monitoring the ABS wheel speed sensors and reducing engine output when excessive wheel-spin is detected. A dash mountable switch allows the selection of different target slip rates, and software allows the system to be tuned for your specific vehicle setup. "

VitViper has already been testing this system on his high hp turbo Si and has had great results.

Free Tune Offer

As it is painfully obvious, our Calibrations section is lacking base calibrations for anything but 8th gen Si's. This wasn't a big deal when we didn't have FlashPro support for TSX & CRZ models, but that is changing. So as a one time offer, I am looking for TSX and CRZ vehicles equipped with various modifications to tune. The tunes will be free, and they will be added to the Calibrations section.

So come get a free tune, and it will be a join venture to support the community of each model! Bear in mind that I am not looking to tune a large amount of vehicles with the same modifications... to help build out the Calibrations section I want vehicles with varying modification levels. But as it stands right now, I want one of everything!

Contact me either via PM on this site, or email: vit@e-tunez.com

Due to available base cals, this offer is not valid for the following (or similar) setups. Inquiries for all others are welcome!

Acura TSX

  • Stock
  • Bolt ons setups (i/h/e or any combination)

CR-Z

  • Stock (or intake only)
  • Intake/exhaust

If you are looking for a tune but don't fall under the free tune offer, feel free to contact me anyway, as I do also tune for a reasonable fee.

FlashProManager 1.2.0.0 Beta Released

Hondata have released the first version of FlashPro Manager with support for the CRZ and TSX. Interestingly the CRZ receives the ability to have hybrid AFM/MAP fueling logic right out of the gate. Something the R18 civic in the 8thgen civic's has still not received.

FlashProManager 1.2.0.0 Beta -
· FlashPro firmware updated to version 40.
· Support for the US, Euro and Asia CR-Z
· Support for the 2007-2008 TSX.

FlashPro Manager 1.1.9.2 Beta Released

I waited to post about this until the major issues in the release were fixed. It appears to be stable now so here's the change list - a lot of cool stuff was added to FPM in this release.

V1.1.9.0 changes:

Honda ECM/PCM Idle Learn Procedure

Very frequently I've been asked to look at datalogs of an erractic idle. Usually the blame lies with an aftermarket throttle body or even an OEM Honda throttle body. The tell tale signs are an idle that likes to "jump" up and down or "go crazy". After the break is the procedure to calibrate the idle. I've found that I get the best results if I start the procedure with the car cold (below 100 F ECT).

In Soviet Russia Factory Wideband Tunes You

Oh aren't I just clever with that title...

But on to the point I wanted to make: we already know that the factory primary wideband (WB) oxgyen sensor (O2 sensor) is not very accurate in engine operationg conditions that require a rich air/fuel (A/F) mixture. Generally this requirement is seen on vehicles equipped with forced induction (superchargered or turbo vehicles). Fortunately, Hondata found a pattern to this nuance and has graciously provided us with the "Air/Fuel Correction" (AF.Corr) sensor value in FlashPro Manager that does a great job of correcting this discrepancy.

Unfortunately (yes, there is some bad news), the factory O2 behavior isn't limited to just this correctable discrepancy. I wanted to share some of behavior I've seen the factory O2 sensors exhibit as they fail. In the vast majority of these cases you will not even get an MIL (check engine light), and in some cases the sensor even behaves as if it is working and there is nothing to worry about. Read on for more details after the break...

Choosing a Calibration

One of the most commonly questions that I get is "What calibration should I start out with?".

The answer to this question is actually fairly simple. Go to the Calibrations page on this site and use the filter based on your mods. Quite frequently you are not able to find a base calibration that exactly matches your mod list. No worries, the priority of mods for picking a calibration is this:

  • Forced Induction (S/C, Turbo), or Naturally Aspirated (N/A), then
  • Header, then
  • Exhaust, then
  • Intake

So if you don't find a calibration that matches your mods completely, you can go by that rule of thumb. If you have more exotic mods such as cams, superchargers, turbos and cannot find a base calibration, look into getting a professional eTune or a dyno tune from a respected K series tuner in your area. A professional tune isn't just limited to more exotic modifications. Once you've picked out your base calibration, you will want to fine tune it for your car and if you are unsure of what changes you need to make yourself, a professional tune is a great choice for your next mod.

I try to upload base calibrations for the most popular mod combinations that I see in the 8th community, but I can't cover everything as it seems to be an almost infinite array of combinations.
